Why so sad?

just came across this wonderful resource www.academicearth.org
This is an online reservoir of academic lectures in top notch univs in the US. A particular post caught my attention http://www.academicearth.org/lectures/what-motivates-us-sex
It seems that respondents in a survey (in the US but i would imagine it’s true for many people across the world!) admitted to SEX being one of the MOST important things in their lives. The list of things connected with sex stretches to ‘cleaning up after sex, reading fashion mags’ and so on.. But when it comes to actually having sex or making out or doing it, people spent a paltry 4 minutes and 8 seconds per week!!
We sideline things that we ‘think’ are important to us all the time. This is particularly true of our workplace, how difficult it is to take out the time for the project you definitely know you’ll enjoy doing, where we constantly push away the ‘attractive’ stuff in favour of things that have to be done! and then we crib, complain about what we do, our jobs, bosses, clients which affects the quality of our work which..well..takes us a little further away from our dream projects.

What if you spent some time everyday, without fail, chasing something YOU like! What if you doubled the time to 8minutes and 16 seconds! i know it’s not much but it’s twice the sex and they say the more you have, the more you want and the more you get!

entrepreneu-ship and other such maritime vessels

I rec’d a mail from a troubled soul recently that compels me to write today’s post. This gentleman has been studying at a premier mgmt institution in India and now feels lost, not passion less or flukey, just lost. While the reasons of this may be debated, the fact remains that undue pressure to succeed and ‘make it’ confuses many a poor soul in India. For straters i think it’s a good idea to let go and focus on what you enjoy doing, what you’re good at might be discovered by pure chance

Public service film for Jagori

Women’s safety is not just a women’s issue. The people of the city at large make a big difference in how safe or unsafe women feel in that city. This 60 sec film created by Phonethics Mobile Media for JAGORI’s Safe Delhi Campaign shows how the community can play a critical role in making the city safer for women and girls.

JAGORI is a NGO based out of New Delhi, India. Visit them at : www.jagori.org and for the Safe Delhi campaign: ttp://safedelhi.jagori.org

The Shop Floor

This could also have been titled ‘Why i love what i do’. It just occurred to me that all of us in Phonethics operate our sales floor like a trading floor of the good old stock markets! at any given point of time during the trading hours (typically between 10.30 and 6.30) some of us are talking feverishly into our phones, selling, explaining, talking and responding to the many many client enquiries that we receive. The buzz (when its there) is to die for, its infectious, its unique and as a leader, its invigorating. The thrill of discovering something new and getting it to market, to weigh in on the side of our clients is totally amazing. Constant information hunger and healthy one upmanship (i discovered this new cool tool/widget/piece of code/style of animation..) contributes to it.
I wonder how many people can actually say this about their workplaces!
