We started using Yammer.com a few months ago and went from building social media solutions for others to internalising social as a way of being. Different groups within the team share ideas around Mobile apps, Interesting articles and conversation starters that the Sales team can use. Most importantly, EVERYONE contributes to this internal social network, even new employees. Over a period of time we expect this to serve as a key tool for Training and Induction. In our opinion, companies that are looking to engage customers on social networks or start social media marketing should also try using an internal social network. some of these tools such as Chatter by Salesforce can also be rolled out in a small group, say the marketing team, giving people a hands on experience on what type of content actually pulls eyeballs.
